Facebook has recently upped their video game with the launch of 360-degree videos. Choose your view and engage your audience.

In real estate, we all know that pictures speak louder than words and that videos are even more effective than pictures. You also know the value of your social media presence. Facebook has just announced an awesome tool to boost your online presence with enhanced videos.

Facebook has upped the video game by recently announcing the launch of 360-degree videos. These videos allow viewers to be fully immersed in the video environment. You can curate the content, by selecting any view you like.

Endless implications for real estate

This has limitless possibilities: from shooting home walk-throughs, to arial shots of land, 360-degree videos could be the next best thing.

I see this kind of like a stable Periscope. While Periscope is live, these 360 videos still give you the ability to be a part of someone else’s experience, without leaving home. You can be a part of your friend’s vacation, your family reunion, a wedding, or any number of activities. 360 videos allow you to control your view and your experience.

Brokerages are likely next to jump in

To create 360 videos a special set of cameras is used to record all 360 degrees of a scene simultaneously. This means when the video is playing on Facebook, you can choose any angle you’d like to view. On the web, selection is done by dragging around the video with your cursor. On mobile devices, you drag it with your finger, or by turning the device you’re using.

These new videos will allow viewers to experience things as if they were part of them. If you are using Facebook from the web or on Android, you should be able to see 360 video in your News Feed soon from brands like Disney, Discovery, GoPro, SNL, and we suspect brokerages will be added to that list in short order.

If you use Facebook from iOS, you will be able to experience 360 videos in the next few months, as Facebook is still working on this platform.
